While Association Manager and HOA Manager are the same thing, a Property Manager is not.
Here’s a simple way to think about it…
An Association Manager manages an entire property for the residents. A Property Manager oversees individual units in an HOA for specific owners.
In California, if you want to be a Property Manager, you have to be licensed as real estate broker. If you want to be an Association Manager, there are no requirements.
Seems backwards doesn’t it? If you manage a single unit in an HOA you have to be licensed but if you manage the entire HOA you don’t need a license.
